Statue of Filial Son Bestowed on Descendants of Ikjeom
In the Joseon Dynasty, King Heonjong bestowed a statue of the filial son
on Changmoon Moon. His ancestor, Ikjeom Moon, was well known for
devotion to his parents. He stayed next to his mother¡¯s grave for 3 years
after her death. At that time, Japanese invaders coming into the village
were touched by his devotion and posted a sign saying ¡®Do not harm the
devoted son.¡¯ As a result, the village could remain safely.
