Reasons why parents did not participate included: ¡°Because I don¡¯t know what kind of
education programs are offered and where they are offered,¡± ¡°I wish I could, but I have
no one to take care of my kid while being there,¡± and ¡°I want to but I don¡¯t have time¡±
in the order. Two thirds of the respondents thought that parents are obligated to take
basic parental education programs on childcare and development. As for desired
supportive policies, many related development and distribution of parental education
contents, expansion of educational organizations, and increase of education opportunities.
Based on the findings above, the researchers suggest ways to develop and distribute
parental education contents in Gyeonggi Province, ¡°Happy Parents Together With
Gyeonggi-do¡± campaign, establishment of more childcare support centers for
infrastructure expansion, childcare support center member management and incentive
system, improvement of promotion and application channels for parental education at
childcare support centers, variation of approach to parental education for each group of
applicants, provision of childcare service, and enhancement of educational environments.
